Why The Humanities Matter Summer Institute-Global Approaches in the Humanities

Drawing on visual art, literature, and history, workshop leaders will explore strategies for introducing international connections in the classroom to prepare K-12 students for an increasingly globalized world. In addition to workshops on Stockton’s main campus, we will take a field trip to the world-famous Philadelphia Museum of Art to learn ways to use art to build students’ global awareness. Participants will come away from the 4-day institute with practical lesson plans, classroom activities, and student project ideas that support the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

Sessions topics include:

  • Literature and Migration, Prof. Gorica Majstorovic
  • The Black Atlantic, Prof. Kameika Murphy
  • Bringing Human Rights Home, Prof. Sara Novic
