In this full day workshop that combines both "The Calm and Connected Classroom" and "Further Along the Road of the Calm and Connected Classroom" teachers are introduced to the behind-the-scenes world of students and the emotional and biological effects of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on the developing brain. Teachers learn techniques to manage stress in the classroom through mindfulness and social-emotional activities and learn best practices to promote positive classroom culture. In the afternoon session, teachers examine and practice specific classroom techniques designed to help at-risk students deal with difficult emotions and practice related skills such as reflective listening, effective feedback, de-escalation, and whole brain communication. Teachers walk away from this workshop with tools to create calm and connected classrooms, where everyone can thrive.
The Calm and Connected Classroom Series will be presented by Joanna Schwartz
