Literacy Across the Content Areas

Literacy extends thinking skills for students. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to experience model activities to support 21st Century Skills and Standards to best prepare students for continued learning. Join us for an interactive workshop to discuss and explore the importance of literacy across the content areas. We will examine listening, speaking, writing, and reading standards as they apply across all content areas. Time will be provided for participants to work together, share ideas, and identify strategies that can be used in their classroom.

The workshop will be presented by Kim Tucker.
Kim has more than twenty years of experience in K-12 education and has held the roles of Teacher; Curriculum Coordinator; Supervisor of Pre-K – 3, State and Federal Programs; Supervisor of Special Education; and Principal.  Kim currently serves as the Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction for the Somers Point School District as well as the Principal of the New York Avenue School.  Kim is responsible for overseeing all academic subjects at all levels (Pre-K – 8), planning and executing professional development opportunities for professional and support staff, and overseeing federal programs and the district assessment schedule.
